Sarah Van Meter
Interim Director, BS, CCRC
Sarah received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology/chemistry as a cum laude graduate of Murray State University in 2009. Her six years of pharmacy technician experience led to her desire to work with medications on the forefront of approval. She transitioned into clinical trials and now has nearly 8 years of clinical trial experience in various therapeutic areas as a certified clinical research coordinator. Sarah’s ability to produce high-quality work has led to multiple repeat sponsor trials. Her strong skill set and work ethic earned her a promotion to Lead Clinical Research Coordinator and, most recently, Interim Director. Sarah continues to further her clinical research education by actively pursuing her Master’s Degree in Clinical Research Organization and Management from Drexel University and expects to have her degree completed within the next 2 years.
Breanna is a mother, full-time student, and a dedicated worker with goals of becoming a Clinical Research Coordinator. She is a graduate from West Kentucky Community & Technical College holding an Associate in Applied Science – Medical Information Technology Degree. Currently, she is pursuing her Bachelor of Integrated Studies – Healthcare Administration Degree at Murray State University. Since joining the Four Rivers Clinical Research team in 2015 as our Receptionist, she has been promoted to her role as Regulatory Administrator. Her positive attitude, open-mindedness, and keeping calm while under pressure helps keep others at ease.
Research Assistant, CNA
Brittany has been with Four Rivers Clinical Research since February 2016. She started as the site receptionist and moved up to research assistant. Her previous work as a dental assistant confirmed her love for the medical field and is now a CNA. She is currently attending West Kentucky Community and Technical College for her Associate in Health Science. Her goal is to become a Phlebotomist and continue to work in the medical field. Brittany has a friendly and outgoing personality that makes her great with our patients.
Research Coordinator, BA
Allie received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Murray State University in Psychology in 2010. Her early career was spent working as a Clinical Associate and Employment Specialist with Four Rivers Behavioral Health working with SMI (Severe Mentally Ill) clients. When the opportunity arose, Allie began a new career in the field of clinical research.
Clinical Research Coordinator, MA
Shannon is a graduate of Daymar College with an Associate degree in Applied Science, Medical Assistant. Shannon joined the Four Rivers Clinical Research team in 2014 as a Laboratory Assistant. Shannon was promoted later to Research Assistant, and recently to Research Coordinator. She is dedicated to giving excellent patient care.
Clinical Research Coordinator, LPN
Received Practical Nursing License in 2009 from AMEDD Center and School in San Antonio Texas while serving in the Army reserves. Has spent eight years working in ICU, Geriatrics, Behavioral Health and rehab and has transitioned to research in 2017.
Heather joined the Four Rivers Clinical Research team in August of 2017 as a receptionist. Since 2008, Heather had been a stay-at-home wife and mother of four. She devoted her time and energy to volunteering with school events and extracurricular activities. As an Army wife, Heather has completed training in PTSD awareness and Caregiving of Veterans through the VA. Heather has always enjoyed working with computers and people, she knew the 4R team would be a great fit.
Research Assistant, CPhT
McKenzie started working with medication in 2011 earning her certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician. She then spent 3 years working with patients that suffered traumatic brain injuries on their medication administration. When the opportunity presented itself, McKenzie entered into the field of clinical research.
Dr. Christopher Phillips

Dr. Phillips has served as an investigator with Four Rivers Clinical Research on a variety of indications since 2010. In addition to his research services, Dr. Phillips is also a board-certified rheumatologist at Paducah Rheumatology.
Dr. Cynthia Bowman-Stroud
Research Investigator, MD
Dr. Bowman-Stroud has served as an investigator with Four Rivers Clinical Research on a variety of indications since 2008. In addition to her research services, Dr. Bowman-Stroud is also a board-certified family practitioner at Mercy Family Medicine.
Research Sub-Investigator, PA
Lance McCary is a physician’s assistant who started working in the clinical research field in 2017. Lance assists the study investigators with clinical trial implementation and serves on many of our rheumatology trials. Lance hopes to further his clinical trial experience by becoming more involved in other indications. In addition to his research services, Lance works in the emergency departments of two area hospitals.
Research Psychometrician, MSW
Joanne Engelland is our Psychometrician for our Alzheimer’s studies. She has been a medical and clinical social worker for many years and recently retired in Aug of 2016. Her undergraduate education was from the University of Maine in 1974 and received her Masters Degree in 2002 from the University of Louisville. Both degrees were in the field of social work. Joanne has worked in various areas of social work, including gerontology, education, medical and clinical research. She received the Kidney Educator of the Year award in 2012 from The National Kidney Foundation for her work here in western Kentucky and So. Illinois. She is very happy to be assisting the research team in the field of Alzheimer’s research.
Research Infusion Nurse, RN
Megan Caito is a registered nurse who began working in clinical research in 2017. Megan serves as an infusion nurse and blinded study drug administrator for some of our rheumatology trials. In addition to Megan’s research services, she also works in the emergency department of Baptist Health Paducah.
Research Infusion Nurse, CRA, RN
Kristy Campbell is a registered nurse who began working in clinical research in 2011. Kristy serves as an infusion nurse and blinded study drug administrator for some of our rheumatology trials. In addition to Kristy’s research services at Four Rivers, she also works as a clinical trial associate for a major contract research organization.
Research Respiratory Therapist, LPN, RT
Lori Windt is a certified respiratory therapist who assists Four Rivers with implementation of pulmonary study procedures. Lori has worked on several clinical trials for patients with asthma and COPD over the years. In addition to her research services, Lori, who is also a LPN, helps with nursing functions for several local physicians in Paducah.
Research Respiratory Therapist, RT
Terri McGuire is a certified respiratory therapist who assists Four Rivers with implementation of pulmonary study procedures. Terri has worked on several clinical trials for patients with COPD over the years. In addition to her research services, Terri also works as a RT in a hospital setting.
